Judging by the fact that these teams are even trading maps, the finals will be a stomp.

i guess gamers origin is ok

The fact that one person hasn't competed in contenders S0/1 is really interesting. That leaves a handful of Western players for the last spot. Even though it will most likely be one of them, there is a lot of talent outside which has great potential and could make the cut for an OWL roster.

Possibly a South American player? Someone from Asia (outside of Korea) or a player from the Pacific tournament.

His latest team was Movistar Riders, but ever since they disbanded he was a free agent.

Tviq on projectile brings a tear to my eye. :')

I didn't watch the game because I thought LH will just dumpster MVP.

I really regret that.

Pretty interesting timing considering ryb recently got signed. That leaves no obvious replacement. Lateks would be my best bet.

Of course.

Shadowburn, Mistakes and Txao is one of the scariest triple dps trios imaginable. I hope Txao gets a chance to go on the Soldier and watch them dispatch of everyone.

I'm going to send a very angry letter to whoever decided putting MATTH on full time D.va was a good idea.

posted about 6 years ago

Of course they have pro players. 4 played on the same roster in the past. I didn't recognise Matwoj but according to the article introducing Poland he also has pro experience. There's only 1 player who's not pro.

I have faith. There's plenty of nice benches in Poland for TwoEasy.

In MATTH we trust.

They would probably be drowned out by xQc's screaming.

Also you have to expect a team with Mangachu and xQc to produce some quality memes.

The players on EnVy (specifically Taimou) have been extremely vocal about their dislike towards spending long periods of time outside of their home in the USA. They find it draining, no doubt affecting their motivation. Taimou played McCree exclusively for the first two maps, most likely would be on the Soldier if they were playing to win.

nV had 3-4 ults and they all died before using them???

He may be back in the server, but he's not back to his pre-injury form. He's been absent so far.

Don't understand the downfrags. Nevix is nuts but so is iddqd, and having iddqd would allow tviq to play Genji and offer the team a quality Tracer.

Mighty AOD can theoretically go through if they 3-0 KDP. Unlikely, but this match can still affect the group stage results.

AFAIK every player on the team needs to play at some point during the tournament, so putting Fl0w3r on with his wrist injury makes the most sense against Flash Lux, who are probably the weakest team in the tournament.

Soon was probably the best player for Rogue during that series (although that doesn't say much), he was actually getting openings for the team. Nico's D.Va has always been lacklustre and AKM had 1 or 2 impactful visors that entire series. Winz and Knoxxx's lack of expertise alongside Nico were probably Rogue's biggest issues, although the other players weren't playing great by any means.

Not entirely sure since Meta Athena is an actual contender.

They are overhyped, but everyone is being too harsh on them. They're playing with a stand in which they had for a couple days which is also in Europe.

I know the score might not reflect it, but I think Mendo will actually be better for this roster. Imo he's only a small downgrade from Seagull, and if Seagull can't find the motivation to play competitively then they'll definitely be better off with Mendo.

I don't like it either, but picking side on the first map seems underwhelming for going undefeated in the playoffs in my opinion.

No 1-0 lead for upper bracket?

Who's ready for the all-Korean playoffs?

I don't really think we know Rogue's level, considering they've just been battering mid-tier NA teams. We at least saw Misfits playing against top tier competition.

EDIT: Unless we're talking about the old Rogue roster (the one which had Reinforce and Tviq). Then I agree.

Misfits
nV
Rogue
Either C9 or NiP, depending or performance.

Temporary or permanent?

posted about 7 years ago

Scrims help, but they can't completely replace actual matches. Since there are no stakes in scrims, teams experiment using things which they are not entirely comfortable with.

The upside is that NiP will probably only improve from here on out.

posted about 7 years ago

The only thing Laser Kittenz proved is that NiP really should have been playing in those small tournaments. NiP are extremely rusty.

It's not so much about the flag as it is about braindeads thinking NA is better than EU after a team with 5 Europeans beats a team with 6 Europeans. Not to mention it's terribly confusing seeing a team with 6 Frenchmen have a US flag. Personally, coming from game(s) in which teams base their flags on the nationality of players (most big esports AFAIK) is disorienting and doesn't serve any real purpose.

Also, people want to cheer for teams from their country to win, it gives a sense of national pride and being able to flaunt about how you have good talent representing your country. But having a full team of foreigners defeats both of those things.

Can't wait to see the next top /r/Overwatch thread.

This might just be the sloppiest game between "top" teams.

I've seen better co-ordination in soloq games, especially on Volskaya and Lijiang.

Edit: And now Gibraltar.

posted about 7 years ago

I personally thought it was the other way round, Dummy provided some really interesting "insider" (using the term loosely) information while Thorin couldn't really contribute much since he's still learning OW. Sure maybe the humour was lacking, but that's not the reason you invite a pro player in the first place.

I meant when playing a dive comp, not against one. Lucio will still be a must pick no doubt. Ana's usability will decrease drastically with the nerfs, and doesn't really suit a dive comp due to her lack of mobility (which Mercy has). Leaving her to rely on her kit alone, which while being great, it won't help with any significant pressure when singled out.

On Rein comps Ana will definitely still be more viable than Mercy however.
