I understand Mayhem vs Fusion being first because both teams have Europeans but i don't understand why Outlaws vs Uprising is the second match and Spitfire have the 3rd match again. They're clearing not scheduling as good as they could/should be.

I was awake until around 5:30am watching the Spitfire vs Outlaws, I understand the time zone can't cater for everyone but staying up until 5:30am watching your "local team" is a joke.

Becuase NYXL vs Spitfire as a last game will bring more viewers than Outlaws vs Uprising.

I hope Birdring has had his Shreddies today, A win here for the Spitfire would be huge.

This tangent is kind of related but kind of not.

I like how everyone bigs up this internal scrim stuff, NYXL just seem to blow that argument out of the water all the time. I don't think it's that important currently. I think it works for certain situations, like drilling and extra practice etc. But I think currently, you only end up playing against yourselves if you scrim each other regularly. You play how you think other teams play. You can't truly simulate playing against another team, you are bound to mistranslate things. Even the little details are important.

Players play their heroes differently and in some cases better. For example, Fragi's Winston, Shadowburn's Genji, JJoNak's Zen and Jake's Junkrat. These guys have a style and play the hero to a level which you can't simulate.

So London were said to be intentionally playing more passive and slow style because NYXL play passive. This probably worked whilst preparing but didn't work in the match because they couldn't fully account for the extra damage coming from our lord and savior JJoNak. And they can't simulate the support line of JJoNak and ArK.

Sorry to ResidentSleeper you all, just having a drunken ramble at the dead of night.

NYXL have better players at every position than almost every other team in the league. SBB is better than every other Tracer except for maybe Carpe. Libero is better than every other flex dps except for maybe profit. Pine is better than every other Widow or McCree in the league. Mano and Janus are better than all the other main tanks except for maybe Fissure. Jjonak is better than every other player in the league. Ark is better than every other main support. Meko is better than every other Dva.

Even if NYXL weren't extremely well coordinated, they'd still roll teams based on sheer talent.

Yeah, they do have that going for them, haha.

The bit following is TL;DR material, but in short I agree and I'll just say pretty much everything you said with an added point of Gesture needing a consistent team lineup.

Every position they always have the best (supports are undisputable), or at least top 2/3 in every position. Libero is number 1 right now in his position, based off the last few weeks. You can make a argument for Tracer since that's close but SSB is king until otherwise. Tanks wise, apart from Fissure doing Fissure things you wouldn't pick anyone else over Meko or Mano right now. Gesture needs to play with a consistent team. Can't keep changing supports and offtank all the time, doesn't help him at all I can imagine.

Anyway!

I love how NYXL that they always emphasise that they concentrate on themselves as well as the opponent. Barring that one Fusion game in Stage 1, which they readily admitted.

Some teams like London tonight, and other teams have done in the past is concentrate on their opponents too much rather than their own game. London seem to think that they can cover all bases with their squad, not evaluate themselves properly and just split the team based whoever they are playing and prepare.

Their doesn't seem to be a real London style, they can do it all but their plays never looked like it had their stamp on it. I never felt they've mastered a comp, even if some of their players are in conversation for Top 3 in their positions and heroes for various comps. They were good enough to beat most teams but some teams are getting better and it's not good enough against NYXL. Maybe having so many players, changing them around all the time and how they prepare is stopping them forging a team identity.

NYXL are the most complete team in overwatch history in my opinion*. Demo'ing a piss poor Spitfire cemented this.

London were atrocious, their play has been really ragged for 3 games in a row now.

NYXL has "arguably the best player" in every position. I think to myself hmmm, perhaps carpe is one of the most mechanically skilled players in OWL and remember, Libero sat him down for a chat in the finals a few weeks back, so he couldn't come in for SBB. Ark goes about his business very quietly but enables Jjonak so much. Jjonak is a monster, he's essentially a support DPS. Janus isn't always the most reliable but looked very comfortable in this match. Mano, well Mano is Mano isn't he, he seems to get less exposed now too. Perhaps Gesture or Fissure are more mechanically gifted, but he's so entrenched in NYXL, you couldn't move him off. Meko is so flexible it is incredible, d.Va players I find, are not so inspiring to watch, but his peeling is out of this world. If you look closely, he saves his supports and DPS more often than not. Libero is on another level, he seems to get better every game, and that's as some one who can play 5/6/7 heroes with ease. Off camera on their point A defence of Anubis he absolutely owned London. Then to add insult to injury you swap in Pine for a widow/mcree map. God tier team, backroom staff.

They are scary good and all of this without Flow3r!! It's actually bonkers impressive.

Rolling Spitfire on Blizzardworld was telling, apparently they spent time in NYC and hadn't prepped the map at all. They made their defence look like a stroll in the park, that's how gifted this crew is. The self awareness of Pine to switch off widow was very clever, I doubt he will play widow on that map again, it was made for him to mcree, which surprised me he didn't swap to when he got headshotted twice by birdring, but to drop widow to SBB on defence is a sign of a team that knows how to play and when to play.

*perhaps excluding 2016/7 SK WC teams, but I think if they could play each other (clearly not given the 2017 team), they'd still spank SK. They're just so fucking complete.
