Rogue have joined a number of other top teams in signing a coach for their Overwatch roster. The new addition is a former Shootmania player and manager for Team aAa, Lanf3ust.

Rogue are currently ranked #1 in the world after their performances at Atlantic Showdown, Overwatch Open, and APAC Premier. The team has so far been one of the most innovative and reactive squads in Overwatch, relying on the strategists within their team to make the best use of their hero pools. They will need to recover from an upset on Monday against EnVyUs however which saw them knocked out of APEX Season 1 in the quarter finals.

Rogue joins Fnatic, FaZe, REUNITED, and Afreeca Freecs Blue among other teams who have developed relationships with coaches in an attempt to stay on top of the game. The role is beginning to become a more established position within the scene, but many top teams have still not made the move to bring a coach into their system.

They previously had a 2 month stint with now Fnatic coach Roflgator, but the two parties split shortly after Rogue won TakeOver LAN and iddqd was removed from the team.

Rogue sign Lanf3ust as coach

This announcement comes just as Rogue lost in the quarter final of APEX Season 1 to EnVyUs, who they had selected as first round playoff opponents. EnVyUs were playing with a stand-in from Thailand, Mickie, along with a number of changed roles to ease the loss of dps Talespin. Rogue fell in a close 2-3 game to this cobbled-together EnVy roster in their first game on the November patch.

The new Rogue coach spoke to theScore esports, about the recent APEX upset, the patch, and his role, saying:

Rogue showed very good things during the game, but we have to keep working to adapt to the new meta.

A lot of teams are not yet sure about their compositions on the different maps. I think that picks like soldier and D.Va are going to be mandatory, also despite her nerf, Ana is still a must pick.

I will do my best to manage everything around [the Rogue players] so they can focus on the game only. The group morale is also a main factor, and I will make sure the atmosphere and spirit in the team are at best.

The full Rogue roster is now:

  • Kevyn "TviQ" Lindström (dps)
  • Dylan "aKm" Bignet (dps)
  • Michael "winz" Bignet (flex)
  • Jonathan "Reinforce" Larsson (tank)
  • Benjamin "uNKOE" Chevasson (support)
  • Jean-Louis "KnOxXx" Boyer (support)
  • Philippe "Lanf3ust" Rivain (coach)
