A £5,000 Overwatch LAN tournament has been confirmed for the UK’s biggest gaming festival, Insomnia58. The summer iteration of the i-series will be the first UK Overwatch LAN, and provides a great opportunity for teams to test themselves whilst fighting eye-to-eye with the competition. The tournament is an open BYOC, with tickets at £99 each, and runs from August 27th.

This is a reasonable size for a prizepot, setting it as a LAN Minor, and is likely to draw in European teams hungry for competition. Teams already signed up to the online precursor tournament include GamersOrigin and newly acquired K1ck eSports Club, among others.

Even the i-series has quit for Overwatch...

The prize breakdown for i58 itself is as follows:

  • 1st: £2,400
  • 2nd: £1,200
  • 3rd: £800
  • 4th: £600

Insomnia58’s Overwatch tournament will run from the 27th August at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. More detailed information on the tournament can be found on their website here. Teams can earn their place at the tournament and win free tickets by competing in the qualifying online tournament, or buy BYOC tickets on the website.

Experienced tournament admin and downright hunk Tapley announced the qualifier on overgg’s forums:

To build participation and team numbers at the Insomnia58 LAN in the UK, I’m running an online tournament and the winning team all get BYOC tickets for the whole event (worth £99 each).

The online tournament runs this Saturday on the 30th of July. Please only sign up if you can attend as the winners will only get tickets if they are going to attend the LAN.

Any questions please let me know.

As stated above, the online tournament for free tickets runs on Saturday, 30th July. Teams must only enter if they are prepared to attend. Teams can sign up on the tournament’s battlefy page here to enter.
