Elite European team Creation eSports announced this week that they had officially picked up ToxikeN on support. He has filled the gap left by KnOxXx when he ditched Creation to join Rogue. The team has already played, and won, tournaments with ToxikeN, and their level continues to increase.

Support is new territory for ToxikeN, who was exclusively a dps player in former teams. To be dropped into a squad of Creation’s calibre without experience is a scary prospect, but ToxikeN landed on his feet and instantly kept pace. His Lucio play has been instantly top tier and the best may be yet to come if he is required to swap onto Zenyatta or Ana.

One aspect of his play that ToxikeN’s teammates appear to value highly is his communication. It was this asset which originally made him stand out to Creation when he stood in for them on the dps role in scrims. The team then asked ToxikeN if he would consider switching to support, a change to which he was open.

Captain and caller numlocked explained the process of picking up their new support:

We made a list of lucio players that we could get, but none were really stand outs. We'd played with toxiken before and were really happy with his communication so we wanted to see what he thought about playing support. I think given the team plus the fact he's good friends with bromas meant he was happy to give support a proper go.

I think we lucked out with how good toxiken is on lucio. He's good at communicating ideas and talks a lot which is vital, especially to me. I call best when I feed off information from the team.

Creation eSports have continued to grow stronger in the past two months. While playing with ToxikeN, Creation have claimed first place in the AOG Reign of Gaming LAN in France, and the Acer Pro Overwatch Circuit. They have multiple wins over all of the other top European teams, and currently sit at a fiercely competitive 2nd place in GosuGamers European rankings. It is clear that ToxikeN has been a significant part of that success, and CE shows no signs of slowing down.

We spoke to ToxikeN briefly to see how he was adjusting:

For me it has not been difficult, because I have enough experience overall. I find it easier to support even than play dps flex. We have good teamplay overall, it didn't cost me anything adapting to their playstyle.

I miss [dps] a bit, still I'm happy to play support for creation. When knoxxx left the team, they needed someone who could play support, they asked me if I could play with them the next day and I accepted just for one day, but then I liked playing support for them, it worked really well, so I did a trial for them.

Might we see you on Zen or Ana after this patch? Your dps skills would help you there.

I would love to play them, and yes, my dps skills helps a lot with both characters. We'll see how the meta goes and then we'll decide who plays what!
